Terms of Service

NOT LEGAL ADVICE

Legiant is an information service. Nothing in the Service constitutes legal advice, and Legiant is not a law firm. The summaries, alerts, fine estimates, task suggestions, AI-generated content, and any other output of the Service are provided for general informational purposes only. You must consult a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction before acting on, or refraining from acting on, any information from the Service.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Legiant service (the "Service") operated by Legiant ("Legiant", "we", "us"). By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

The Service aggregates publicly available regulatory documents from EU and national sources and uses automated tools — including artificial intelligence — to produce summaries, alerts, classifications, fine estimates, and task suggestions. The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

3. No legal advice; no professional relationship

The Service does not provide legal advice. No attorney-client, advisor-client, or fiduciary relationship is created by your use of the Service. The Service is not a substitute for the advice of a qualified lawyer, accountant, tax advisor, or other professional. You are solely responsible for compliance with all laws and regulations that apply to you, your organisation, and your activities.

Outputs of the Service (including AI-generated summaries, impact ratings, fine figures, deadlines, action items, and any "advisory" or assistant features) are estimates and may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or wrong. You must independently verify any information before relying on it.

4. AI-generated content

Portions of the Service use large language models that can produce hallucinated, incorrect, or biased output. You acknowledge this and agree not to rely on AI-generated content without independent verification by a qualified professional.

5. Your responsibilities

  • Provide accurate account and billing information.
  • Keep your credentials secure; you are responsible for activity under your account.
  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with applicable laws and these Terms.
  • Do not scrape, reverse-engineer, resell, sublicense, or attempt to extract source data in bulk.
  • Do not upload personal data of third parties unless you have a lawful basis to do so.

6. Subscriptions and payments

Paid plans are billed in advance via Stripe at the price and interval shown at checkout. Prices are exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise. You authorise us and Stripe to charge your payment method on each renewal until you cancel. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period; we do not provide refunds for partial periods unless required by law.

We may change pricing on at least 30 days' notice. Continued use after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance.

7. Third-party sources

The Service draws on third-party sources including, without limitation, EUR-Lex, Retsinformation.dk, Høringsportalen, and German federal publications. We do not control these sources and are not responsible for their accuracy, completeness, availability, or licensing. Source documents remain subject to the terms of their respective publishers.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including all software, design, text, and aggregated data layouts, is owned by Legiant and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service in accordance with these Terms for the duration of your subscription. Public source documents retain their own licences.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. We specifically disclaim all implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and uninterrupted operation.

We do not warrant that the Service will identify every applicable regulation, every relevant change, every deadline, or every potential fine, nor that any summary, classification, fine estimate, deadline, action item, or AI-generated output is correct.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Legiant, its affiliates, officers, employees, agents, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, business opportunity, regulatory penalty, fine, or reputational harm, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service, whether based in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service in any 12-month period shall not exceed the fees you actually paid to us for the Service in that period, or EUR 100, whichever is lower.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

11. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Legiant from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to (i) your use of the Service, (ii) your violation of these Terms, or (iii) any decision you or your organisation make based on information obtained through the Service, including any regulatory action, fine, or penalty.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you breach these Terms, fail to pay, or use the Service in a way that could harm us, other users, or third parties. Sections 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, and 14 survive termination.

13. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The courts of Copenhagen, Denmark have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that we may seek injunctive relief in any competent court. If you are a consumer, mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence still apply.

14. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the Service or by email. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept an update, your sole remedy is to stop using the Service and cancel your subscription.
